The offices listed below are confidential offices. This means that they are required to keep all communications with them confidential and have no reporting requirements, other than concerns regarding imminent physical harm.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS provides student no-cost confidential brief therapy, as well as other services, including groups and workshops; access to a crisis specialist on call and referral support.

Confidential Support Team (CST)

The Confidential Support Team (CST) offers free, confidential support to students impacted by sexual assault and relationship violence, including domestic abuse, intimate partner abuse, stalking, and sexual or gender-based harassment and discrimination.

The Bridge Peer Counseling Center

The Bridge Peer Counseling Center is a student run counseling center that offers anonymous 24/7 peer-to-peer counseling. The Center is staffed by trained graduate and undergraduate students who are available to listen to and help individuals develop their own solutions to address their problems.

Limited confidentiality

The resources below will handle your information with sensitivity and discretion and will take reasonable steps to maintain confidentiality to the extent possible. Examples of situations where confidentiality cannot be maintained include circumstances when the law or Stanford policy requires disclosure of information (for example in situations of alleged sexual harassment or discrimination) and/or when disclosure by the university is necessary to protect the safety of others.

Dean of Student's Offices

Staff in the Dean of Students Office, Residential Education, and Graduate Life Office provide support to students on a wide range of issues, and can help students understand and navigate the support resources that are available to them. If you are concerned about a student you can reach out to report your concern to the Graduate Life Office (for graduate students) Residential Education (for undergraduate students) or the Dean of Students generally.

Student Services staff in degree programs are available to advise, answer questions, and direct students to campus resources. Staff in each schools’ Dean’s Office are also available to consult and help resolve academic-related concerns.

Peer Mediation Training (ICIL)

The Peer Mediation Program is open to all graduate and undergraduate students and is a peer to peer program where trained student mediators serve as an impartial third party to assist students in navigating a conflict or concern with another student.

ResEd staff provides referrals to other Stanford resources and support for undergraduate students navigating conflicts with roommates, friends and other social groups.
